A "Chief Diversity Officer"!!!?? What is that?

Here is the link.

I don't even know where to start on this.

From the article:
Mark Lloyd has recently been appointed “Chief Diversity Officer” at the Federal Communications Commission. Conservative groups believe his installation is merely another way to impose the dangerous principles contained in the Fairness Doctrine.
Seems to me if he wants to increase "diversity" in media he should force the Commie News Network and abc, cbs, and nbc, to diversify their staffs with reasonable people to balance out the loonies that dominate those outlets.

Here is some more nonsense:
Lloyd is a longtime Democrat activist who has strategized about ways to censor conservative media under the guise of “local accountability.” In 2007, he co-wrote a report that called for, among other things, the restoration of local and national caps on the ownership of commercial radio stations and fines for commercial radio station owners if their stations didn’t air enough “progressive” content. Those fines would go directly into the pockets of liberal competitors with fewer listeners.
After reading that I think I need to go heave my breakfast onto the tv monitor in the cafeteria that is always set to cnn.

Now let me make throw up again:
“Our conclusion is that the gap between conservative and progressive talk radio is the result of multiple structural problems in the U.S. regulatory system, particularly the complete breakdown of the public trustee concept of broadcast, the elimina¬tion of clear public interest requirements for broadcasting, and the relaxation of ownership rules,” he wrote.
My conclusion is the gap between conservative and socialist talk radio is the result of nobody wanting to hear socialists spew their garbage. If there was a market for marxist radio then there would be marxist talk radio programs on the air. I can just imagine the format:
This is marxist radio and I'm your host Karl Hussein. Now, let me tell the next caller what to think.
Another cause for the gap is left-wing overload. If you listen to any news on the radio or tv it is dominated by left-wing extremists claiming to be in the middle. People want a choice and that choice is talk radio.

Now that I've made you sick I'll try to make you mad as well:
In addition to having this new CDO title, Lloyd will also assume the title of Associate General Counsel, giving him what seems to be a substantial amount of authority to pursue these objectives.
So he's not just going to be some wanna-be elite twirp making silly statements. His statements will actually bother you in the real world.

This just goes on and on:
In a blog post, LCCR praised the selection of Lloyd by saying that he will “help the FCC to develop communications policy that will increase media diversity and address the needs of low-income people, women, minorities, people with disabilities.”
"Address the needs of low-income people, women, minorities, people with disabilities." What does that have to do with anything? A communications policy that will increase media diversity? I already covered that. They need to add conservative reporters and editors to all the major networks and newpapers. A communications policy that will address the needs of low income people? Are they going to take more of our money and buy radios for poor people? Most poor people have louder stereos than anyone else in my experience. What exactly are the communications needs of women and minorities? Do they not know how to tune a radio or tv to a program they like? Do they not know how to work the OFF button? What are the communications needs of people with disabilities?

None of that sounds like any business of the federal government. I seem to remember a thing called The First Amendment to the Constitution of The United States that covers the communications needs of all Americans.

We don't need a "Chief Diversity Officer". We need more barf bags after reading about nonsense like this.

I guess it really follows the left's philosophy that if you can't get people to buy what you're selling by convincing them it is the best then use the force of government to make them buy what you are selling.

Ahhhh. All of the problems of the world are because of...

the elimination of clear public interest requirements for broadcasting

Yeah. Public interest requirements. If the public weren't interested, they wouldn't be listening.

Pass the barf bag, please...

Have you ever listened to KMNY 1360 AM broadcasting out of Dallas? It advertises itself as a Liberal "Blowtorch of Truth". Its not the most impressive blowtorch, however, 'cuz its hard to pick it up on the radio outside the Dallas City Limits.

Don't fret, though... its staffed mainly by DJ's that have been fired repeatedly by other stations in the market recently, so you're not missing anything.

If there was a Market for Liberal Radio, Air America wouldn't have failed so miserably.
