The maximum amount of marijuana for "personal use" under the new law is 5 grams—the equivalent of about four joints. The limit is a half gram for cocaine, the equivalent of about 4 "lines." For other drugs, the limits are 50 milligrams of heroin, 40 milligrams for methamphetamine and 0.015 milligrams for LSD.
I predict a new kind of tourist trap just across the border.

I say end the drug war. Drugs were criminalized by some chump making up the story of White Slavery because the first time he tried to at the Federal level the population said no way that can't be constitutional. They then quickly extended their crap around the globe. Mexico is just getting sick of all the crap. Granted Mexico is a crap place due to its government and has many other things to worry about then dope.
Paladin, that is so true it isn't funny. Maybe we could convince everyone in that area to just pack up and move.
Wyn, you're right. The so-called "war on drugs" is used primarily as justification to expand budgets and the power of government. I'm not sure what the answer is.
It is interesting that corruption is one reason given for changing the law. "Officer discretion" vs. "zero tolerance" is a problem everywhere.
One more thought on "officer discretion" vs. "zero tolerance" in this case: Corrupt officers will always find a way. If they catch someone with 10 joints instead of 3 a corrupt officer can always be convinced to forget he saw 7 of them, or he could threaten to add some to the stash if he isn't paid off. If there is a law against it then there is no way to eliminate corruption.
